Jess was an amazing instructor who made us feel very comfortable and confident to learn a routine for our first dance as a married couple. We don’t have a dancing background and didn’t know how to move together smoothly before starting. After a few lessons, we had learnt some moves and how to transition them together. Our first dance on our wedding day was so much fun and we both loved showing off what we practiced. Would recommend dancing lessons for any engaged couple to prepare for their first dance.

My wife and I came to Dani for lessons for our wedding dance. Dani was friendly, energetic and taught us a fantastic routine which wowed our guests. Matthew assisted in teaching us lifts to make them look smooth and effortless. We highly recommend Social Dance Company.

My husband and I came here to be taught how to dance so we could do more than just shuffle at our wedding. We were completely blown away with what we managed to achieve under Dani’s instruction! Every lesson was so much fun, and it was something we both really enjoyed in the lead up to our wedding. Dani is a wonderful instructor, and such a great, happy person to work with – she really put us at ease. Thank you so much!

My wife and I took lessons with Matthew for our Wedding. We both fell in love with his teaching style and were happy with the results we achieved which showed through on our wedding night. 3 months on from our wedding we returned for social dancing lessons. We are permanents now and absolutely love how we can walk in after a hard day, connect with each other and walk out smiling!

My husband and I had the most amazing experience doing our first dance lessons with Dani. We had Matt for an introductory lesson who was very kind and explained everything very well. We went on to have 10 lessons with Dani and was nothing short of amazing! We had fun and laughed and was a highlight of our wedding planning process. I would highly recommend Dani or Matt for anyone thinking of learning to dance or just have some fun!

Matt was amazing. We walked into the studio had no idea how two clumsy ones like us could possibly manage to dance in front of all of our guests at the wedding. After a few lessons with Matt, we not only rocked the first dance, but also feel comfortable dance at any occasions. The whole experience was really fun and chill, as we were learning TO dance, not learning A dance. Will definitely recommend Matt and his team!

Matthew is the driving force behind the studio and a true visionary when it comes to dancing. His 18-year International career has seen him shine a spotlight on couples teaching, pioneer new ways of learning and create a unique studio that is all about the fun and excitement of social dancing. He’s not your traditional dancer who fell in love with dancing; he fell in love with what dancing can do for people.
Matthew is all about the individual and how dancing can affect different parts of your life from learning new skills, building fitness or spending more time with your partner, overcoming loneliness or finding some “me” time. The new studio in Dural is the culmination of Matthews experience as a teacher, mentor and business owner and brings together a new and innovative approach to learning to dance.

Dani Bliss
Studio Manager and Senior Instructor
Dani has had a love affair with dancing since she was 9 years old and her father gave in to her pestering for lessons. At just 17 she became a qualified instructor and joined SDC studios in 2010. As a senior instructor, she specialises in working with couples and solo men. Her love affair isn’t just for the dancing but more for the teaching, she enjoys seeing students, who initially thought they had “two left feet” grow in both confidence and skills. She is an amazing teacher who has a passion for working with couples and has taught some of our couples for almost 8 years.
Dani is an expert at developing foolproof teaching methods to get students up and dancing socially in no time at all. As a studio owner, she loves working with the team and creating a great environment, but the real the thrill is seeing how dancing can have a major impact on a student’s life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a partner to participate in Line Dancing lessons at Social Dance Company?
Nope! One of the best things about line dancing is that it’s one of our singles dance classes in a group environment. You don’t need a partner to join our classes and learn the dances. Many of our students come on their own and quickly make friends in the supportive and social atmosphere of our studio.
If you would prefer something a little more intimate, we do offer a number of couples dance classes.
What should I wear to a Line Dancing class? Are there any specific clothing or shoe recommendations?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of movement. Avoid anything too restrictive.
Layers are a good idea, as you may warm up as you dance. For footwear, while cowboy boots are popular and often preferred, shoes with smooth soles or dance sneakers are ideal as they allow you to turn and slide easily on the dance floor.
Do I need any prior dance experience to take Line Dancing lessons at Social Dance Company?
Absolutely no prior dance experience is necessary! Our line dancing classes are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their background or skill level. We offer classes for all skill levels, including complete beginners.
Our experienced instructors will break down each step and concept, providing instruction that helps everyone feel more comfortable and confident.
We understand that some people may feel intimidated if they’ve never danced before, but we create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where everyone can learn at their own pace.
What styles of music are used in your Line Dancing classes? Is it all country music?
While country music is a staple of line dancing, we incorporate a variety of music styles to keep our classes engaging and fun! You can expect to hear a mix of classic and contemporary country hits, as well as pop, rock, and even some Latin influences.
I'm worried that I have "two left feet" and won't be able to learn the steps. What if I struggle with the concepts?
Don’t worry – you’re not alone! Many people feel that way when they first start dancing. At Social Dance Company, our instructors have developed teaching methods that are designed to get every student up and dancing socially in no time. Here, it doesn’t matter what experience you have as long as you have the enthusiasm!
Our instructors are patient, supportive, and experienced in working with students of all abilities. They break down the choreography into small, manageable steps and provide plenty of repetition and practice.
How quickly will I learn to Line Dance?
This all depends on your individual aptitude, prior dance experience (if any), and how often you attend classes. Some people pick up the basic steps quickly, while others may take a little longer. However, with consistent practice and the guidance of our experienced instructors, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you progress.
The most important thing is to be patient with yourself, enjoy the process, and celebrate your accomplishments along the way.
